M1 Telecommunications Latest Data plan

As rival telcos continue to offer more competitive plans, M1 feels the pressure.

This month, M1 has unveiled their latest plan, ‘M1 Plan X,’ to stay afloat. For $25 a month, subscribers get 1GB of mobile data and unlimited local calls and SMSes. However, the catch is that you will only get 0.5Mbps speeds after hitting your quota or if your area suffers from congestion then.

Customers who subscribe to the plan are hoping that this would be enough for them to manage their internet usage, but critics believe that this update does not do much in terms of staying competitive with other telcos such as Singtel and StarHub, who will launch their promotions later.

As rival telcos continue to offer more competitive plans, M1 feels the pressure. This month, M1 mobile plan has unveiled their latest plan, M1 mobile plan service X’, to stay afloat. For $25 a month, subscribers get 1GB of mobile data and unlimited local calls and SMSes. However, the catch is that you will only get 0.5Mbps speeds after hitting your quota or if your area suffers from congestion then. Customers who subscribe to the plan are hoping that this would be enough for them to manage their internet usage, but critics believe that this update does not do much in terms of staying competitive with other telcos such as Singtel and StarHub, who will launch their promotions around February.

The M1 mobile plan offers its customers a wide variety of services. Customers can sign up for the plans for 1, 6, or 12-month contracts. On the same note, there are similar options for SIM cards that come with 1GB large data or 3GB large data.

M1’s list of services includes:

Customers can choose between different contract lengths for their phones and SIM cards, ranging from one month to twelve months. Similarly, they offer one-time charges (for activation) or monthly charges (for both). The prices for these services differ depending on which phone/SIM card package is chosen; monthly phone/SIM card packages range from $26.90 to $49, while single charges range from $36 to $75. All are prepaid services, with no option for a PostPaid contract.

M1 also offers their customers data sharing capabilities which allow for shared data among the phones under the same account. Customers can activate this feature via M1’s website or by sending an SMS with the keyword ‘SHARE’ to 77733. This service costs an extra $20 per month for one line, and it goes up in price after two lines ($40), three ($60), and four ($80). The more people on the plan who want to use this feature of sharing data, the more expensive it becomes (one plus $10, two-plus $20, and three-plus $30, respectively).

Finally, there are unlimited calls/texts to 5 selected countries: Australia, China, India, Malaysia, and the United Kingdom. This feature is available for an additional $20 per month.

M1 has recently made waves in its marketing strategy by offering heavy discounts on its products if customers switch from rival networks with similar packages and list current deals/discounts. While this may seem like a widely used marketing technique nowadays, it can be noted that M1 was one of the first companies to use discounts to lure customers away from rivals.
