Michael Gargiulo, often known as “The Hollywood Ripper,” was found guilty of murdering Ashley Ellerin and given a death sentence following a prolonged trial. Nearly twenty years ago, Gargiulo killed Ashton Kutcher’s ex-girlfriend Ashley Ellerin and two other women. Tricia Pacaccio, Maria Bruno, and Ashley Ellerin were murdered in 2008, and their perpetrator was found guilty on July 7th, 2011. Before his 2017 preliminary hearing, the killer was detained in the Los Angeles County Jail. The trial of Gargiulo finally got underway on May 2, 2019, with evidence from Ashton Kutcher after multiple postponements. The murderer pled guilty to all counts on August 15, 2019, and his sentence began in October.
Gargiulo, the so-called “Chiller Killer,” was facing 25 years in jail, but in October 2019, the jury recommended he be put to death instead. The killer was ultimately sentenced to death at the most recent hearing after the case had been postponed several times. According to Judge Larry P. Fidler, the 45-year-offences old are “vicious and scary,” and everywhere Mr Gargiulo went, he brought death and ruin with him. According to reports, the murderer will be transferred to Illinois to face charges related to the 1993 murder of Tricia Pacaccio.

Ashley Ellerin’s murder on February 21, 2001, occurred in her Los Angeles residence. Ellerin was reportedly stabbed 47 times by Gargiulo. Dating allegations between her and actor Ashton Kutcher propelled her into the public eye.
Investigation of the specifics of the homicide
It is believed that the pair first became acquainted via their same circle of friends in late 2000, and they began dating the following year in 2001. Ashley Ellerin was murdered just before she planned to accompany Ashton Kutcher to a Grammy afterparty. The latter was supposed to pick up Ellerin, but upon arriving at her residence, they discovered the horrific murder scene. In his 2019 testimony, Kutcher detailed the terrifying events when he knocked on the door that fateful night. No one responded.
Assuming she had already gone to bed then, he figured she was probably angry with him for being late. He also said he checked on Ashley Ellerin before he left the apartment and spotted a “stain” on the floor, which he took to be red wine on the carpet. However, her home party was like a college party, so he didn’t get worried and didn’t consider it much. Additionally, Kutcher said that he was “freaking out” when the news of Ashley Ellerin’s death emerged the next day, and police discovered his fingerprints on the doorknob. After further investigation, it was determined that the “stain” that Kutcher referred to was Ellerin’s blood.
